Donald G. Meyer ~ Saying Goodbye

In Memorial- Donald G. Meyer

Mourning the Loss & Celebrating the Life of a Remarkable Man

We have lost the man responsible for D.G. Meyer Inc’s existence, and he has left a gulf in both our business and our lives that can never really be filled. At 1:15 a.m. on December 9th, 2015, Donald Meyer passed away with his family by his side. He had been ill for some time.

Don Meyer’s legacy in this community and state extends far beyond his business concerns. He is Patriarch of a large and thriving family. He is survived by wife, Katherine (Sue) Meyer, his four daughters by first wife Barbara Ann Meyer― Gwen Simmons, Dawn Roberson, Linda Longfritz and Cynthia Pilkington― Eleven Grandchildren, Ten Great-grandchildren and One Great-Great Granddaughter. He is also survived by Brother, James E. Meyer, Sister-in-Law Georgia and two neices.

He was husband, father, caring grandparent, friend and colleague to so very many. He was known, respected and well-regarded throughout Central Florida. Daytona Beach Florida has lost a native son— a resident of the area for all of his 81 years.

Visitation and Memorial Service for Donald G. Meyer were on Saturday December 12th, 2015 at Lohman Funeral Home— 733 West Granada Boulevard, Ormond Beach, FL 32174.  In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations and gifts go to Halifax Health Hospice, and wish to thank these wonderful caregivers for their help, support and compassion during this difficult time.

Our thanks and Blessings to you all…

  1. To the entire Meyer family. We send our sincerest condolences and pray that the Lord will give you strength during this time.

  2. Rest in Peace Don. May all the love that so many had for you now blanket your family and loved ones. May the time of sadness pass soon and be replaced with the wonderful happy memories of times spent with Don.
Don was a very big part and influence in our lives for many many years. We will miss him greatly.

  3. He was a very special man, great sense of humor and seemed to take life and business by the horns , so to say. I knew the first time I met him he was special. He assured me that one of my nephews was not to be worried about anymore, he had his back. I knew he meant those words and never doubted it for a minute. My trips to see Dean Bazzle hardly ever went by that I did not ask to go see Mr. Don. And he was a joy to converse with and be around during those visits. R.I. P. And my condolences to the family , company and friends. In my prayers, Peggy Roberson
